The Department of Psychiatry of the University of Naples SUN is a WHO center for research and training in mental health.
It is one of the main Italian research centers in the field of Psychiatry. Active collaborations are established with several institutions of other countries, among which the University di London, the New York Cornell University, the Karolinska Institutet of Stockholm and the University of Maryland.
The Department includes specialized centers for the prevention and treatment of psychotic, anxiety and mood disorders; for the psychosocial and cognitive rehabilitation; for cognitive, interpersonal and psychodynamic psychotherapies and counseling for families of psychiatric patients. It hosts the Campania Region Reference Center for Eating Disorders.
The Department has two inpatient wards and several outpatients facilities.
